ASWE launched 17 Faces of Action
In 2022, ASWE launched the project 17 Faces of Action designed to showcase the role of women in the modern world. Based on the original idea of the Director-General of UNOG Tatiana Valovaya, 17 Faces of Action aims to select 17 female faces in 17 countries with the objective of recognizing the importance of women's contribution to the implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The first two countries to have participated in the project are Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. In Azerbaijan, the implementation of the project 17 Faces of Action was supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as the daughter of President Iham Aliyev, Leyla Aliyeva. Uzbekistan became the second country to participate in the 17 Faces of Action project — the initiative received support from Ms. Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Communication and Information Policy Branch of the Executive Office of the Presidential Administration.
In 2023, the portraits of the women from the national exhibitions in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will be displayed at the Palais des Nations in Geneva alongside the other 15 countries in one major exhibition.
